Contraindications of a FUE hair transplant

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant is a safe technique that effectively treats hair loss. Unlike a FUT or strip hair transplant, the FUE hair transplant is almost painless and leaves no stigma. However, like any cosmetic surgery, this hair implantation technique may have contraindications.

During a pre-operative diagnostic appointment, the doctor of our aesthetic clinic in Luxembourg takes the time to collect detailed information about your medical history, to assess your hair loss, analyze your hair characteristics and study the donor area. This appointment is therefore an important step in the hair transplant process.

If you want to permanently end baldness, densify a beard too rare or fill a lack of hair in the brow bone, note that there are very few contraindications for a FUE hair transplant. But some disorders may make you incompatible with a hair transplant and other conditions may involve delaying the intervention.

During the diagnosis, the doctor of our Clinic, checks certain points of vigilance and checks if you do not present symptoms related to :

  • Serious medical history: heart problems, anemia, blood clotting disorders, respiratory failure,…
  • Deep inflammation of the scalp, certain dermatological diseases,…
  • Problems with healing,
  • Some allergies…

FUE grafting is also contraindicated in pregnant women, adolescents and is not compatible with some current medical treatments.
