All about the FUT hair transplant or the Strip Technique

The FUT hair transplant (Follicular Unit Transplantation) also called Strip Technique, is a hair restoration process that differs from the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) graft.

Unlike the FUE graft where the follicles are extracted individually under local anesthesia, FUT hair transplant is a surgical operation that is performed in the block under general anesthesia and consists of removing a strip of scalp from the hippocratic crown (donor area at the back of the head, above the neck where the hair is genetically programmed to resist falling).
Then the scalp strip removed is cut into small follicular units called grafts. These grafts are then implanted into the incisions of the recipient area.

The disadvantages of the FUT hair transplant being numerous, the technique of the strip is gradually abandoned. Indeed, this old grafting method was particularly painful, imposed truly restrictive post-operative consequences, even heavy (loss of sensitivity, risk of edema, etc.) and left an impressive scar.

Today, the FUT hair transplant or strip technique has given way to non-invasive, painless hair transplant methods whose healing process is significantly reduced.

Extremely anxious to offer our patients advanced hair grafting techniques and results that are close to perfection, the doctor of our hair transplant clinic in Luxembourg favors the FUE Saphir hair implant technique.
